As an independent RIA, Carlson Capital Management is free to select the partners that we believe will best serve our clients. One of those partners is Dimensional Fund Advisors, a mutual fund company that provides us with access to exclusive global equity and fixed income funds on behalf of our clients. The relationship between CCM and Dimensional has remained strong for more than eighteen years, and we attribute this to a number of factors. Among those factors are the success of Dimensional’s investment strategies, their foundational academic research combined with on-going innovation in research, and their strong commitment to partner with us to put the best interests of our clients first.
Noted as the fastest-growing major mutual-fund company in the U.S., Dimensional was recently featured in a Wall Street Journal article highlighting the company’s history of innovation and success. In “The Active-Passive Powerhouse,” Jason Zweig of the Wall Street Journal notes, “Two-thirds of the firm’s approximately 50 stock funds have beaten their benchmark since inception.” This is quite impressive when we consider that just 12.5% of U.S. stock funds have beaten their benchmark over the ten years ending June, 2016*. Despite their success, Dimensional continues to keep fees well below the industry average.
