My passion for personal finance was fostered by conversations we had as a family around our dinner table. It was important to my parents that my brother and I were knowledgeable, thoughtful, and disciplined with how we approached our relationship with money. They taught us the importance of setting goals to save for something we want to purchase, why taxes are withheld from our paychecks, and how to run the calculation on the interest we would pay on our first car loan.
At the time, I didn’t appreciate the importance of these discussions; but as I reflect back, this coaching laid the foundation on which my passion for wealth planning was built. As an advisor, I draw on this experience and engage my clients in conversations around their goals and values so they can make empowered financial decisions and be good stewards of their wealth.
