Personal Thoughts
Growing up, my family had very little exposure to what I now consider to be fundamental financial planning concepts. The idea of saving or investing for the future was almost alien to me, since we simply did not have the resources to do so. I didn’t realize the blind spot I had around personal finance until I started my first “real” job and went through the benefit enrollment process. How much should I contribute to a 401(k)? Do I need life insurance, and if so, how much? What is a Health Savings Account? Since my family members did not know the answers to these questions, I decided to do my own research. This led to what started as an interest in financial planning, but quickly developed into a passion for helping others navigate their finances.
