Community Commitment

Investing in the Future

In the same way that we value the deep and lasting partnerships we have with our clients, we place a strong value on being partners in our communities. The commitments we make to the communities in which we live and work are investments in the future.

Firm Commitments

American Center for Philanthropy

As part of our commitment to provide integrated wealth management services for our clients and their families, the founders of Carlson Capital Management established the American Center for Philanthropy (ACP) in 2002. This nonprofit organization supports donors and their dedication to making meaningful charitable contributions. Since its inception, donors have made contributions to public charities of nearly $48.1 million.

Northfield Shares

Recognizing the natural connection between the giving of time and treasure, two CCM principals founded 5th Bridge in 2006. 5th Bridge grew quickly and merged with the Northfield Area Foundation to form Northfield Shares. The mission of Northfield Shares is to sustain and transform the Northfield community by advancing philanthropy, inspiring volunteerism, and promoting collaborative leadership.

Holiday Giving

Since 2009, CCM has embraced an approach to holiday giving that honors the values and priorities of our firm, as well as our clients, who are invited to nominate organizations where they contribute their time or dollars. The names of 10 organizations are drawn, each receiving $1,000. We have been delighted by the strong support for these gifts to honor our clients’ community commitments, now totaling $150,000.

CCM Circle of Care

In 2020, pained by the way in which the pandemic and social, racial, and economic inequities were creating challenges across the nation and the globe, CCM created the CCM Circle of Care Charitable Initiative. The Initiative engaged all our colleagues to personally contribute to and make gift recommendations to organizations of their choice with a collective voice. As a result, the founders and colleagues of the firm contributed more than $100,000 to 110 organizations.

Ukraine Support

In 2022, with heartache mounting over the conflict in Ukraine and an urgent desire to help, CCM colleagues joined together to donate funds to support the missions of four key organizations providing humanitarian assistance: UNICEFDoctors Without BordersSave the Children, and International Committee of the Red Cross. The effort, which was further enhanced by matching gifts from Carlson Capital Management, is a shining example of CCM colleagues’ values in action.

Volunteering in Our Communities

We know that when we invest in our communities, we receive far more than we give. Caring for the communities in which we live and work has long been an important tenet of CCM and colleagues are actively involved as volunteers at numerous organizations. Each year, the firm participates in initiatives to donate food and other goods to our neighbors in need and colleagues are supported in pursuing their personal volunteer endeavors through Dedicate 8, which offers paid time off to volunteer.
