Professional Biography
Josh Lester is an Investment Specialist at Carlson Capital Management. In this role, Josh is responsible for monitoring and reviewing client portfolios to maintain balance across asset classes, placing trades through the custodial trading platform, and reviewing daily cash positions. He also actively supports data management, custodial relationships, and investment research for the firm.
Josh graduated summa cum laude from Montana State University, where he earned his Honors degree and Bachelor of Science in financial engineering. He was recognized as the Outstanding Senior for the Department of Agricultural Economics and Economics. During his time at MSU, Joshua was active in the campus’ Honors College, financial engineering club, the engineering honor society Tau Beta Pi, and SigEp. While in school he completed various internships and projects to support a career in investment management, including building the skills needed for constructing and analyzing diversified portfolios that consider a range of goals and leverage varied trading strategies. Prior to joining CCM, Josh exceled in several roles that leveraged his skills in research, data analysis, and customer service and allowed him to demonstrate his genuine care for others.
Josh grew up in Belgrade, Montana, and currently resides in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. He enjoys exploring and learning new things, playing and watching sports, and being outdoors.
Personal Thoughts
I have always been very curious. I feel the need to understand how and why everything works. I am someone who questions everything. Curiosity is essential for growth and learning. It helps us to understand the world around us and make sense of our experiences. I am very fortunate to have been raised in a family that values curiosity and is passionate about education and lifelong learning. My parents helped my siblings and me develop a love of knowledge and a strong work ethic. This has and will continue to serve me well throughout my life.
Another profound impact on my life is growing up with a sibling with special needs. It taught me many things, including patience, compassion, and understanding, while also making me more resilient and adaptable. It is the biggest blessing of my life.
In today’s rapidly changing world, it is more important than ever to have patience and be able to adapt and learn new things. The world is constantly evolving, and new ideas and technologies are emerging all the time. If you want to stay ahead of the curve, you must be willing and excited to learn new things. I am proud to be a lifelong learner and I am excited for the opportunity to help shape what the future holds.
