NORTHFIELD, MINN.  (MARCH 7, 2024) – Carlson Capital Management (CCM) a Minnesota-based investment advisory and integrated wealth management firm, has named Justin D. Stets, AIF® as CEO. Stets has been with the firm since 1998, and previously served as President. He assumes the CEO role from Gregory A. Carlson, CFP® who continues to serve the company as Chairman of the Board, and is actively engaged in the firm as a Co-Founder alongside Jeffrey R. Carlson, CFP®.

In addition to his role overseeing day-to-day operations, Stets will expand his work in leading the development and implementation of the firm’s strategic plans, while supporting colleagues in their work to realize the firm’s mission. “Justin tirelessly and passionately works to advance our goal of enriching the lives of clients and colleagues, bringing wisdom and purpose to wealth,” said Greg Carlson. “With Justin at the helm, we will extend our circle of care, and continue growing to serve more clients with intentionality, clarity, and expertise.”

Stets has previously held the titles of principal and managing director, and continues to serve as chief compliance officer for the firm. Under his leadership, CCM has introduced industry-leading initiatives to enhance the integrated client experience, most recently launching a global equity exchange-traded fund to better align clients’ wealth management and investment strategy plans. Additionally, Carlson Capital Management has grown to more than $3 billion in assets under management, boasts a superior client retention rate, and has been named an employer of choice numerous times, most recently as a recipient of the Star Tribune’s Top Workplace award.

Prior to joining the firm, Stets served at Wells Fargo Corporation. He holds the professional designation of Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®), awarded by the Center for Fiduciary Studies, which affirms the highest in fiduciary standards of care for CCM clients.

Stets’s expertise has been recognized by Twin Cities Business, which named him a Notable Leader in Finance in 2021. He is a former chair and current executive leadership team member of Zero Alpha Group, and has also served on the Schwab Advisor Services Advisory Board. Stets holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf College and a master’s degree in Theological Studies from Harvard University.

In addition to his work with CCM, Stets is actively involved in philanthropic and community-building efforts. A longtime resident of Northfield, Minnesota, Stets co-founded 5th Bridge, an organization dedicated to promoting volunteerism and philanthropy, which later merged with Northfield Area Foundation to become Northfield Shares. He is a former board member and development committee member of Northfield Shares, which serves to advance philanthropy, inspire volunteerism, and promote collective leadership. Stets currently serves as Treasurer of the board of the Center for Courage and Renewal.
